At Peel Ports Group, we are committed to nurturing young talent and investing in the industry's future. I am therefore thrilled to announce the addition of nine new early careers apprentices who have joined our London Medway and Port of Liverpool teams since the start of the academic year. These apprenticeships span various disciplines, including administration, operations, and engineering.
Throughout their apprenticeships, our talented young recruits will have the opportunity to learn practical skills and acquire knowledge from some of the most experienced professionals in the industry. This hands-on learning approach equips our apprentices with the skills and insights they need to excel in their chosen fields.
This initiative not only benefits the future of the industry but also positively impacts the communities where we operate. By offering these apprenticeships, we help build a skilled and knowledgeable workforce for the future, ensuring the continued growth and success of the maritime and logistics industry.
Earlier this year, at the beginning of National Apprenticeship Week, we proudly joined the 5% Club, committing to having 5% of our workforce in 'earn and learn' positions within five years of our membership. Today, we are thrilled to announce that, in just over 6 months, we have achieved this goal, representing an increase of nearly 70 learners. We take great pride in our accomplishments and are excited for the ongoing journey of developing our people and investing in future talent.
As an apprentice at Peel Ports Group, you will work in a thriving, fast-paced environment on a wide variety of equipment. Peel Ports is at the forefront of our industry, an industry that is constantly evolving. For instance, one of our significant projects is Liverpool2, a deep-water container terminal that ranks among the most technologically advanced ports in Europe, featuring a semi-automated container terminal.
We now look forward to witnessing the growth and development of our nine apprentices as they take their first steps in their professional careers.
